Senior Legal Counsel
We are seeking an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join our in-house legal team in Doha.
The role reports to the General Counsel and provides high‑level legal advice across commercial, regulatory, employment, compliance, and corporate matters to support business objectives and reduce legal risk.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide pragmatic legal advice to senior management and business units on commercial contracts, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, employment matters, and day‑to‑day legal issues.
- Draft, review, negotiate, and finalize a broad range of commercial agreements, NDAs, procurement contracts, supply and service agreements, partnership and licensing agreements.
- Support M&A, joint ventures, restructurings and other corporate transactions, including conducting legal due diligence and coordinating external counsel.
- Own company policies and compliance programmes (anti‑bribery, data protection/privacy, competition/antitrust, trade controls), including drafting policies, monitoring adherence, and delivering training.
- Manage litigation and disputes: instruct and supervise external counsel, develop case strategy, and coordinate settlement or litigation processes.
- Advise on employment and HR issues, including contracts, disciplinary matters, terminations, secondments, and workplace investigations.
- Maintain legal precedents and templates, and build internal tools or guidance to streamline legal processes.
- Identify legal and regulatory risks, propose mitigation strategies, and support business decision‑making with commercial legal solutions.
- Where required, represent the company before regulators or contribute to industry forums and stakeholder engagement.
- Mentor junior lawyers and legal team members and contribute to continuous improvement of the legal function.
Required Qualifications And Experience
- LLB (or equivalent) and admission to practise law in a recognised jurisdiction; in‑house practising certificate preferred where applicable.
- Minimum 6–10 years PQE (post‑qualification experience), with at least several years in an in‑house counselling role or in private practice advising corporate clients.
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills for commercial contracts and corporate documentation.
- Practical experience with compliance frameworks (anti‑corruption, privacy), employment law, and dispute management.
- Proven track record supporting transactions (M&A, JV, financings) and coordinating external counsel.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills; ability to explain complex legal issues simply to business managers.
- Strong commercial judgment, problem‑solving orientation, and ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Fluent English; Arabic desirable but not essential.

- Experience working in Qatar or the Gulf region, with familiarity with local laws, regulatory bodies, and typical commercial practices.
