Role Overview
Join the Packet Forwarding Engines and System Software team developing software for networking ASICs used in large data center networks.
The software is a core component of Arista EOS, a Linux-based network operating system.
Own projects from definition through deployment and remain responsible for delivery quality.
Responsibilities
- Write specifications and implement packet forwarding engine and system software features in C, C++, and Python.
- Develop automated tests, monitor execution, debug failures, and fix software problems.
- Work with customer support teams to analyze network issues and deliver releases or patches.
- Collaborate with hardware teams and vendors to bring up new systems and validate ASICs and components.
- Work with system test engineers, mentor junior engineers, review designs, and maintain project schedules.
Qualifications
- BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering plus 8 years of experience; MS plus 6 years; PhD plus 3 years; or equivalent experience.
- C or C++ programming experience, UNIX or Linux knowledge, and understanding of IP networking or distributed systems.
- Applied software engineering knowledge, strong troubleshooting ability, and independent implementation skills.
