As a Senior Instrumentation & Controls Engineer supporting Crusoe's modular data center platform, you will own the control system deliverables for major systems inside the modules we manufacture.
Modular is how Crusoe compresses the timeline from steel to compute, and that speed only holds when the controls package is repeatable, verified in the factory, and correct the first time it lands in the field.
You will independently produce and defend the point lists, instrument schedules, and control system drawings for your assigned systems, then prove them out through factory acceptance testing before a module ships.
This role sits at the point where design intent meets manufactured hardware.
You will move between the design desk and the factory floor, adapting standards to non-standard conditions, resolving equipment substitutions and installation deviations without waiting for direction, and making the judgment calls that keep a production line moving.
Your deliverables become the reference that construction, commissioning, and operations teams build against, and you will mentor Engineer I and II teammates on the standards behind them.
Denver is your home base, with estimated travel at 25% to manufacturing partners and deployment sites.
This is a full-time position.

System Design Ownership: Own the I&C design deliverables for assigned building-level or major systems, including point lists, I/O assignments, instrument schedules, and control system drawings from concept through as-built.
Factory Acceptance Testing Leadership: Develop and execute FAT protocols on control panels and integrated modules, adjudicate discrepancies against design intent, and hold the release gate before shipment.
Non-Standard Condition Resolution: Resolve equipment substitutions requiring control specification updates, field installation deviations, and calibration discrepancies by adapting established procedures with minimal guidance.
Platform Standardization: Improve the repeatable design packages, drawing templates, and test procedures that let the modular platform scale across successive builds, feeding lessons from the factory floor back into the standard.
Vendor and Integrator Coordination: Lead technical coordination with control panel fabricators, systems integrators, and instrument suppliers on submittal review, specification compliance, and closure of open technical items.
Commissioning Readiness: Coordinate control loop checkout, startup support, and field verification activities so modules arrive at deployment sites commissioning-ready with accurate documentation.
Mentorship: Coach Instrumentation & Controls Engineer I and II teammates on Crusoe's control platforms, documentation standards, and field verification practices, and review their deliverables before release.
Schedule Accountability: Track your I&C deliverable schedule against project milestones and flag risk to design and deployment leadership early enough to act on it.
Instrumentation & Controls Depth: 5 to 8 years of professional experience in industrial instrumentation and controls, with demonstrated independent ownership of design deliverables across the design and commissioning lifecycle.
PLC Proficiency: Strong working command of Rockwell and Allen-Bradley platforms, including Studio 5000 and ControlLogix or CompactLogix hardware, and the ability to read, modify, and troubleshoot existing logic.
SCADA Capability: Hands-on experience with Ignition SCADA or a comparable platform, including tag architecture, screen development, historian configuration, and troubleshooting integration issues.
Testing and Commissioning Rigor: Proven ability to author and execute test procedures, drive discrepancies to closure, and make release decisions on the accuracy of your own verification.
Field and Factory Judgment: Comfort operating in active manufacturing and construction environments, with the credibility to work through installation and calibration issues directly with technicians, trades, and vendors.
Documentation Discipline: A track record of producing accurate, well-documented deliverables that downstream construction and operations teams can rely on without rework.
Mandatory Education: A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Control Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
Data Center or Mission-Critical Experience: Prior work on data center mechanical or electrical control systems, or in another high-availability industrial environment.
Modular or Prefabricated Delivery: Experience supporting a productized or prefabricated equipment platform where design repeatability and factory verification drive schedule.
Protocol Depth: Practical fluency in Modbus TCP, BACnet, or OPC UA within multi-vendor integration environments.
Systems Integrator Perspective: Experience on the integrator or EPC side of control system delivery, and an understanding of how scope, submittals, and acceptance criteria are negotiated.
OT Cybersecurity Awareness: Working knowledge of industrial network segmentation and OT security practices as applied to control system deployments.
Professional Credentials: Relevant certifications such as network certifications, Rockwell or Inductive Automation credentials.
Mission Alignment: A genuine interest in energy and AI infrastructure, and in the engineering rigor required to build it at speed.
