Senior HVAC Engineer

Job purpose

Engineering and design

• Lead HVAC system design and development for industrial, commercial, and oil and gas facilities.
• Prepare design calculations, equipment sizing, ventilation studies, heat load calculations, and pressure loss calculations.
• Develop system layouts, duct routing, equipment arrangements, and airflow distribution plans.
• Prepare and review design bases, HVAC philosophies, equipment datasheets, technical specifications, material requisitions, drawings, and material take-offs.
• Perform HVAC system simulations and analyses using industry-standard software.

Project execution

• Participate in FEED, detailed engineering, EPC, brownfield, and greenfield projects.
• Coordinate with mechanical, process, electrical, instrumentation, structural, and piping disciplines.
• Support procurement, technical bid evaluations, and vendor document reviews.
• Review vendor packages for compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
• Provide technical support during fabrication, installation, construction, pre-commissioning, and commissioning.

Compliance and quality

• Ensure designs comply with ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA, ISO standards, local authority regulations, and client specifications.
• Participate in HAZOP, HAZID, design reviews, and model reviews.
• Follow project quality management systems and engineering procedures.

Leadership and coordination

• Mentor junior HVAC engineers and designers.
• Coordinate discipline activities to meet project schedules and deliverables.
• Interface with clients, consultants, contractors, and vendors on technical matters.
• Participate in project meetings and provide engineering expertise throughout project execution.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering; the source also contains a later generic qualification line listing a bachelor's degree or diploma.
• Minimum 14 to 20 years of HVAC engineering experience.
• Experience in oil and gas, petrochemical, energy, refinery, LNG, and industrial projects.
• Experience across FEED, detailed engineering, EPC, brownfield, and greenfield environments.
• Experience leading HVAC activities for large-scale projects and managing multidisciplinary coordination.
• Hands-on experience in vendor review, technical bid evaluation, procurement, construction support, and commissioning.
• Middle East energy sector project experience is highly preferred; onshore and offshore experience is advantageous.
• A master's degree is advantageous, and PE or equivalent certification is preferred.
• English proficiency is listed as a requirement.
