Senior Geologist Resource

Maintain and align staff with a continuous improvement program that ensures the Resource estimation practices, procedures, guidelines, site standard software and peer review processes are effective, current and in line with industry best practice standards

Comply with external audits and industry best practice by ensuring that all prepared models meet the requirements of SAMREC, JORC and SOX standards

Maintain a strong involvement with the QA/QC function in order to ensure the quality of the data supporting the Resource models

Demonstrate an understanding of the financial implications and impacts of Resource model quality on mining and exploration decisions, by producing high quality, accurate resource models in a timely manner

Audit and review mine and exploration models as part of a peer review process and provide appropriate inputs to improve quality of estimation

Strong focus on model reconciliation with an ability to interrogate the causes of changes to models and demonstrate the impact on the resulting model

Key factors to your success include:

Bachelor of Science in Geology or related discipline with strong mathematical & statistical emphasis

Minimum 5 years in combined Mine, Exploration or Project Geology plus at least 5 years as a Resource Geologist in the relevant gold mining and exploration industry

Proven geological interpretation skills with the ability to apply this to resource estimation

Experience with Ordinary Kriging and estimation quality optimisation

Experience with linear estimation, recoverable estimation and simulation techniques with ability to decide on and apply the most appropriate methods

Understanding of QA/QC procedures, drilling and sampling practices and standard gold industry laboratory and analytical methods

Highly developed skills with Microsoft Office, Datamine, Leapfrog Geo and geostatistical software including Supervisor and Isatis
