Contributor platform engineering
- Own the contributor web platform, including registration, onboarding, dashboards, access management, and software downloads.
- Maintain the admin panel for contributor approval, account management, and platform monitoring.
- Develop features from design handoff through production with the Product Designer.
- Integrate backend APIs for authentication, token management, and contributor data flows.
Contributor success and support
- Act as the primary technical contact for contributors and onboard users through first successful data submission.
- Investigate desktop application issues by reading installer logs and source, reproducing problems, and escalating evidence-based diagnoses.
- Create troubleshooting guides, setup instructions, and FAQs.
- Communicate releases and track submission rates, drop-off points, and support ticket patterns.
Web engineering experience
- At least 4 years of professional full-stack engineering experience.
- Strong React and TypeScript proficiency for independent production web development.
- Solid REST API integration, authentication flows, browser security, and backend literacy.
- Ability to implement production-quality CSS and components from a Figma design.
Systems and desktop application literacy
- Ability to read Rust and C++ source code and navigate unfamiliar codebases.
- Understanding of Windows installation, processes, permissions, install contexts, and OS-level failure modes.
- Ability to use logs, crash reports, and Windows diagnostic tools to form an evidence-based diagnosis.
- Understanding of desktop client communication with backend APIs, including authentication, retries, and local versus remote failures.
Support and communication
- Experience supporting non-technical or semi-technical users.
- Systematic debugging of user-reported issues through reproduction and evidence gathering.
- Strong written communication and ability to maintain useful documentation.
Nice to have
- Prior experience writing Rust or C++ is a meaningful bonus; reading fluency is required.
- Exposure to Windows packaging tools such as MSI, NSIS, or WiX is beneficial.
- Experience with native desktop applications, support tooling, community management, or developer relations is beneficial.
