This is an early permanent engineering hire reporting directly to the CTO and working with a small group of senior engineers.
Compensation
- The advertised salary range is £80,000 to £95,000.
Workplace
- The role is fully remote, with regular team socials and co-working days.
- The company supports remote-first working and access to co-working spaces across the UK.
Current engineering work
- Design, build, and ship features from data model and API design through frontend implementation.
- Build TypeScript and Node.js APIs published in OpenAPI format.
- Architect resilient distributed systems and third-party integrations.
- Work with FHIR R4 resources and clinical data models in Medplum.
- Contribute to the migration from Flutter to React.
- Own testing and contribute to QA and DevOps work.
- Meet regulatory requirements for software developed as a medical device.
Person specification
- Around 6+ years of end-to-end software development experience, ideally with TypeScript, Node.js, and React.
- Substantial production system design and architecture experience.
- Practical experience with distributed systems and third-party integrations.
- Experience using AI coding agents on production work.
- Regulated-industry experience is desirable, especially healthcare or finance.
- FHIR R4, healthcare data standards, and Medplum experience are desirable.
- Startup, scale-up, or founding engineer experience is desirable.
Role context
The role is not a management position and has no direct reports.
The engineering practice is still being developed, while the underlying foundations include a monorepo, documentation, DORA metrics, and daily releases.
