Job summary

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain full stack applications using React, Node.js, TypeScript, and PostgreSQL.
• Translate business requirements into scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions.
• Use AI-assisted tools for coding, analysis, documentation, testing, and development planning.
• Develop frontend components and integrations, backend services and APIs, and PostgreSQL database structures.
• Review, test, debug, refactor, and optimise AI-generated and manually written code before deployment.
• Analyse existing codebases, create tests, maintain project AI instructions, and prepare implementation plans.
• Validate database designs against business rules, relationships, transactions, security requirements, and query patterns.

Required technical skills

• Eight to ten years of relevant full stack software development experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with React.js, Node.js, TypeScript, JavaScript, PostgreSQL, and relational database design.
• Experience developing REST APIs and integrating frontend and backend applications.
• Experience with database schemas, SQL queries, migrations, and query optimisation.
• Good understanding of authentication, validation, error handling, Git, testing, debugging, and code review.
• Ability to understand existing application architectures and codebases.

AI experience

• Hands-on experience using AI-assisted software development tools is required; Claude Code or similar tools is preferred.
• Ability to write structured prompts communicating business rules, technical constraints, acceptance criteria, and expected outputs.
• Experience using AI tools to generate and improve frontend, backend, and database code.
• Experience reviewing and validating AI-generated code rather than relying on generated output without technical review.
• Ability to use AI tools for codebase analysis, debugging, test generation, documentation, and implementation planning.
• Maintaining project-level AI instructions such as CLAUDE.md is advantageous.
• Understanding security, performance, and architectural risks associated with AI-generated code is expected.

• Ability to understand business requirements and convert them into well-structured technical solutions.
• Ability to work independently while partnering with a broader engineering team.
• Willingness to adopt relevant development practices and technologies.
• Formal managerial or team-handling experience is not required.

Operational experience

• Experience working across frontend, backend, and database layers of web applications.
• Experience analysing codebases and implementing enhancements or fixes.
• Experience participating in code reviews and maintaining development quality standards.
• Ability to plan and manage tasks based on business requirements and acceptance criteria.
• Experience with testing, debugging, release activities, established development processes, and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• Any graduate with strong relevant full stack software development experience may be considered.
• A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field is advantageous but not mandatory.
• Relevant practical experience and demonstrated technical capability will be considered.
• Relevant certifications in cloud technologies, software development, databases, or AI technologies may be advantageous but are not mandatory.
