Role overview
Canva is seeking a Senior Frontend Engineer for the Editing Accessibility team.
The role focuses on making the Canva Editor accessible to people using screen readers and other assistive technologies.
The work involves designing accessibility into complex, interconnected frontend systems and solving problems without established playbooks.
At the moment, this role is focused on
- Designing and building accessible Editor interactions, including focus management, keyboard navigation, live regions, and accurate ARIA roles and states.
- Using VoiceOver, NVDA, and JAWS as daily development tools to test, debug, and validate accessibility.
- Reviewing designs and pull requests and providing technical guidance to teams across the Editing Group.
- Finding systemic accessibility gaps and developing architectural solutions for recurring problems.
- Working with assistive technology users during design and development and helping teams implement accessible features.
You’re probably a match if
- You have solid commercial experience building accessible web applications and applying WCAG in practice.
- You have hands-on experience developing with and debugging screen readers, including VoiceOver, NVDA, and JAWS.
