Role Overview
Lead the company's fleet and asset management program across all operating locations.
Drive the transition from reactive maintenance to a proactive, data-driven fleet operation focused on planning, forecasting, standardization, and accountability.

Strategic Fleet Leadership
- Develop and implement a long-term fleet and asset management strategy aligned with company growth objectives.
- Establish annual fleet goals, performance metrics, and departmental priorities.
- Create multi-year vehicle and equipment replacement plans and forecast future fleet requirements.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives across fleet-related processes.
Asset and Financial Management
- Oversee fleet asset acquisition, deployment, utilization, maintenance, replacement, disposal, tracking, and inventory management.
- Develop standardized vehicle and equipment specifications and evaluate fleet right-sizing opportunities.
- Develop annual fleet operating and capital budgets and conduct cost-benefit analyses for purchases, leasing, upgrades, and technology investments.
- Monitor expenditures, fuel consumption, maintenance trends, operating costs, and asset utilization.
Operations and Vendor Management
- Provide strategic oversight of preventative maintenance programs and establish maintenance standards.
- Monitor reliability, downtime, maintenance compliance, and operational support across all branches.
- Manage relationships with manufacturers, dealerships, repair facilities, fuel providers, telematics vendors, and equipment suppliers.
- Negotiate service contracts, evaluate vendor performance, and improve vendor partnerships.
Systems, Analytics and Compliance
- Develop fleet performance dashboards and KPI reporting covering utilization, downtime, maintenance compliance, costs, fuel consumption, availability, and replacement forecasts.
- Use fleet management technology and telematics data to support decision-making and report recommendations to executive leadership.
- Ensure compliance with regulations and maintain inspections, licensing, registrations, permits, and documentation.
- Support accident investigations, reduce fleet-related risk, and maintain fleet policies and operating standards.
Leadership
- Provide leadership, coaching, and support to the Fleet Manager and fleet personnel.
- Establish expectations, goals, accountability measures, succession plans, and employee development initiatives.
- Foster collaboration between fleet operations and operational departments.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Fleet Management, Business Administration, Supply Chain, Operations Management, Mechanical Technology, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum 8-10 years of progressive fleet management experience.
- Minimum 3-5 years of leadership experience managing fleet operations, maintenance programs, or asset management functions.
- Experience overseeing large vehicle and equipment fleets in construction, transportation, utilities, industrial services, or related industries.
- Experience developing fleet strategies, capital plans, asset lifecycle programs, budgets, vendor relationships, and operational improvements.
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong understanding of fleet management principles, asset lifecycle planning, preventative maintenance, and equipment reliability.
- Experience with fleet management software, telematics systems, and reporting tools.
- Strong financial, analytical, problem-solving, project management, and strategic planning skills.
- Excellent leadership, communication, stakeholder management, change management, and process improvement abilities.
