Workplace
- The position is located in Kernersville, North Carolina and is in-office.
Financial planning and analysis
- Develop monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for executive leadership.
- Analyze revenue, expenses, profitability, margins, and KPIs across seven business divisions.
- Prepare forecasts and long-range financial models.
- Perform variance analysis and provide recommendations.
- Identify trends, risks, and opportunities that improve financial performance.
- Support strategic planning, acquisitions, capital investments, and expansion.
- Partner with operational leaders on financial performance and decision-making.
- Develop dashboards and reporting tools for operational insights.
Accounting responsibilities
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
- Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
- Strengthen internal controls and recommend process improvements.
- Assist with annual audits and coordinate external auditor requests.
- Monitor balance sheet reconciliations and financial integrity across divisions.
- Support timely reporting, tax reporting, and compliance requirements.
- Maintain consistent accounting practices across operating companies.
Operational and systems analysis
- Use Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains to analyze financial data, improve reporting, and support accounting operations.
- Use McLeod Software to evaluate transportation profitability, customer margins, fleet utilization, and operational performance.
- Identify opportunities to automate reporting and improve data integrity between systems.
- Develop ad hoc financial analyses for executive decision-making.
Leadership and collaboration
- Foster partnerships across Finance, Operations, Human Resources, Safety, and Executive Leadership.
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- At least three years of progressive experience in accounting, finance, FP&A, or corporate finance.
- Experience performing Controller or Assistant Controller responsibilities.
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, advanced formulas, and financial modeling.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred qualifications
- CPA, CMA, or MBA.
- Experience in transportation, trucking, logistics, or supply chain.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains.
- Experience with McLeod Software or Paycom HRIS and Payroll.
- Experience supporting multiple business entities or divisions.
