- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
- 7+ years of experience in steel fabrication, heavy manufacturing, or structural steel operations
- Proven experience in production planning, scheduling, or fabrication sequencing
- Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication processes and shop operations
- Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and sequencing requirements
- Experience with production scheduling tools or ERP systems (Tekla/EPM, SAP, etc.)
- Proficient in Excel and data analysis for planning and performance tracking
- Advanced planning and organizational skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability
- Ability to balance competing priorities in a production environment
- Effective communication across engineering, operations, and management teams
- Continuous improvement mindset
- On-time fabrication performance vs. project schedule
- Labor efficiency (planned vs. actual hours)
- Shop throughput and work-in-progress (WIP) flow
- Reduction in rework and handling inefficiencies
- Accuracy of production plans and sequencing assumptions
- Develop and maintain detailed fabrication schedules aligned with project milestones and delivery commitments
- Translate master production schedules into shop-level work plans and priorities
- Coordinate with Production Management to balance labor, equipment, and capacity constraints
- Support weekly production planning meetings by providing forward-looking schedules and constraints
- Coordinate physical layout planning for large assemblies and fabrication staging
- Identify and resolve workflow bottlenecks within the shop
- Work with Production and Maintenance teams to ensure proper allocation of space and equipment
- Continuously improve shop flow efficiency and throughput
- Collaborate with detailing/engineering to confirm constructability and efficient fabrication approaches
- Ensure fabrication plans align with drawing release schedules and IFC status
- Provide feedback to Estimating on labor assumptions, sequencing risks, and productivity factors
- Support bid-to-production transitions by validating estimated production durations and methods
