The Senior Executive runs assigned audit sections and smaller accounting portfolios with limited day-to-day supervision.
Indicative time allocation is approximately 50% audit, 40% accounting and compliance, and 10% client coordination and internal support.
Audit and assurance
- Assist with engagement planning, client business understanding, checklists, and audit programmes.
- Perform substantive testing, vouching, and verification of revenue, purchases, payroll, fixed assets, inventory, receivables, payables, bank balances, and equity.
- Document internal control narratives, identify weaknesses, and test operating effectiveness where applicable.
- Prepare cross-referenced working papers under firm methodology and International Standards on Auditing.
- Draft financial statements and notes under IFRS and IFRS for SMEs.
- Attend stock counts and fixed-asset verifications at client premises.
- Manage confirmations, audit queries, review points, management letters, and findings summaries.
- Support AML/CFT, client due diligence, and Economic Substance Regulations procedures where applicable.
- Guide and develop trainees or junior colleagues.
Accounting and bookkeeping
- Maintain sales, purchases, receipts, payments, journals, and general ledgers for outsourced clients.
- Use Tally, QuickBooks, Zoho Books, Xero, Odoo, or SAP Business One as applicable.
- Prepare bank, inter-company, supplier, and customer statement reconciliations.
- Process accounts payable and receivable, payment runs, ageing schedules, and collections follow-up.
- Post closing entries and own month-end and year-end checklists for assigned clients.
- Prepare management accounts, cash flow statements, and variance commentary.
- Maintain fixed asset registers, WIP schedules, payroll workings, WPS payroll, and gratuity computations where required.
Essential requirements
- CA qualification or ACCA Affiliate status is required, together with a graduation or postgraduation degree.
- Prior experience must be from an audit firm, accounting firm, or business consultancy.
- Hands-on statutory audit fieldwork, bookkeeping, and accounts finalisation experience are required.
- Working knowledge of IFRS, IFRS for SMEs, and International Standards on Auditing is required.
- Practical UAE VAT filing experience and awareness of UAE Corporate Tax requirements are required.
- The role requires short-notice travel within Dubai for client visits.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills and professional written and spoken English are required.
Preferred qualifications
- Sector experience in trading, contracting, real estate, logistics, manufacturing, or professional services is advantageous.
- Free zone audit exposure, audit documentation software, data analytics tools, AML/CFT knowledge, a UAE driving licence, and additional regional languages are advantageous.
