About the Role

Responsibilities
- Assist in planning Presidential, VIP, and university wide events from start to finish
- Coordinate, train, and oversee on site event day staff
- Create diagrams and floorplans, coordinate setup, catering orders, and décor plans
- Maintain and track expenses for assigned events
- Manage event inventory for purchases, surplus, and repairs
- Oversee linen cleaning process, schedule, and inventory
- Provide on site event support including after hours support on evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Report to the Associate Director for Presidential Events
- Serve as backup in the absence of the leader(s) regarding Presidential Events
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Three (3) years of related work experience
- Current, valid, and unrestricted driver's license
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required
- Experience with event management software (preferred)
- Advanced degree in a related field (preferred)

Department Specific Tasks And Responsibilities
- Assists in the planning of Presidential, VIP, and university wide events from start to finish.
- Coordinates, trains and oversees on site, event day staff.
- Creates diagrams and floorplans and coordinates setup based on event requirements.
- Maintain and track expenses for assigned Presidential, VIP, and university wide events.
- Manages event inventory for purchases, surplus, repairs, etc.
- Oversees the linen cleaning process, schedule, and inventory.
- Provides on site event support including occasional after hours support.
- Reports to the Associate Director for Presidential Events.
- Serves as backup in the absence of the leader(s) regarding Presidential Events.
Required Qualifications
- Current, valid, and unrestricted driver's license.
- Three (3) years of related work experience.
- Bachelor's from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field or equivalent combination.
Preferred Qualifications
- An advanced degree from an accredited institution in a related field.
- Experience with event management systems.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Able to apply technology and innovation to improve efficiency and solve problems.
- Able to work nights, weekends and holidays as required by the event schedule.
- Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines.
- Experience with event management software.
- Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication, time management, project management and presentation skills.
- Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e. Microsoft Office suite).
- Strong attention to detail and follow up skills.
- Strong customer service skills and phone and e mail etiquette.
Proposed Salary
- The budgeted salary range is $55,400 to $60,000 per year.
