Senior Estimator

The opportunity

Downer is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join our Energy and Utilities team supporting our Queensland Water business.

Reporting to the Regional Estimating Manager, you will lead the preparation of accurate and competitive estimates for civil and water infrastructure projects.

You will develop tender delivery strategies, interpret client requirements, coordinate estimating activities and ensure submissions meet technical, commercial and company standards.

Your responsibilities will include completing and supervising quantity take offs, coordinating subcontractor and supplier pricing, managing requests for information and reviewing labour, materials and other tender inputs.

You will also identify risks and opportunities, prepare tender review documentation and support responses to clients following submission.

This is an opportunity to contribute to important water infrastructure projects while building strong relationships with clients, suppliers, subcontractors and internal stakeholders.

What we're looking for

To succeed in this role, you will bring at least five years of experience within the construction industry, together with a strong understanding of detailed engineering, planning and scheduling.

Previous experience preparing civil and water estimates will be highly regarded.

You will also demonstrate:

• Relevant trade qualifications or an undergraduate engineering degree are desirable
• Experience developing and delivering agreed tender strategies
• The ability to review estimates and tenders for accuracy and completeness
• Strong capability in managing deadlines and competing priorities
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and databases
• Sound commercial judgement and the ability to identify key issues quickly
• Clear and consistent communication skills
• A collaborative approach and the ability to build relationships at all levels
• Initiative, motivation and a strong focus on successful team outcomes
