Role overview

Lead a multidisciplinary matrix team of more than 20 engineers, partners, and specialists.

Deliver site-specific power station designs supporting global deployment of Rolls-Royce SMRs.

Report to the Chief Integration Engineer.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership for site-specific power station design delivery.
  • Direct engineering across systems, structures, and components throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Manage milestones, budgets, risks, opportunities, performance, and resources.
  • Integrate site-specific requirements with the generic SMR design using configuration control and requirements management.
  • Lead physical adaptations and variant requirements for different sites, regions, and customer applications.
  • Work with project, supply chain, operations, construction, and business development teams.
  • Engage customers, regulators, partners, and stakeholders on site development, licensing, and approvals.
  • Monitor safety, constructability, schedule, cost, and performance objectives.

Candidate requirements

  • Chartered Engineer qualification or equivalent and a relevant engineering degree or equivalent industry experience.
  • Experience leading complex multidisciplinary engineering programmes in a regulated sector.
  • Experience managing significant engineering budgets, high-performing teams, and matrix organisations.
  • Expertise in power station, infrastructure, or complex industrial facility design integration.
  • Experience with regulators, safety cases, environmental approvals, or infrastructure planning.
  • Track record in engineering governance, risk management, and delivery leadership.

Workplace and travel

  • Hybrid working with Derby, Warrington, or Manchester as the primary location.
  • Regular travel to company offices, customer locations, and project sites is expected.

Compensation and benefits

  • The description states a salary range of £80,000 to £105,000 depending on experience.
  • A separate pay range states £85,600 to £112,350.
  • The package includes a 20% performance-related bonus opportunity, long-term incentive plan, and an £8,500 annual benefits allowance.
  • Benefits include pension contributions, holiday allowance, private medical insurance, life assurance, and a home-office equipment payment.
