Role Overview

Structural Design Responsibilities

• Prepare feasibility study reports and review them with the Local CRC Head of Structures.
• Assemble and monitor design specifications compliant with employers’ requirements.
• Carry out concept through detailed design for steel and concrete buildings.
• Complete detailed design, complex calculations, coordination, quality assurance, and technical sign-off.
• Review calculations and coordinate drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Resolve team queries and provide information needed for construction activities.
• Lead the design process and promote appropriate, cost-effective solutions.

Technical and Project Management

• Manage a team of engineers and BIM technicians.
• Raise technical competence within the teams.
• Implement delivery and quality measurement processes.
• Promote technical excellence and undertake technical reviews.
• Manage delegated tasks, deadlines, resourcing concerns, risks, and commercial processes.
• Participate in meetings, disseminate information, communicate across WSP teams, and complete timesheets on time.

Experience and Technical Qualifications

• 8–14 years of experience in a similar role.
• Proven experience in building structures, steel and concrete design, and seismic design.
• Proficiency with RFEM, FEM Design, ROBOT, ETABS, SAFE, RAM, and STAAD Pro.
• Experience with international design codes such as Eurocode and ACI.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering and membership in an accredited engineering body.
• Master’s degree is preferred.
• UK Chartered Engineer status or active pursuit of that status is desirable.

Key Competencies

• Good presentation, management, communication, and technical skills.
• Ability to work independently and within a team.
• Fluency in English with strong technical terminology knowledge.
• Sound understanding of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
