Overview

Parsons Corporation is looking for a Senior Engineer: Fire & Life Safety to ensure fire and life safety assurance across a client's portfolio of city assets. The role involves applying international fire engineering practices, conducting fire risk assessments, and managing fire and life safety inspe

Responsibilities

  • Conduct and document suitable and sufficient fire risk assessments across various premises
  • Identify fire hazards, ignition sources, fuel loads, occupancy characteristics, and vulnerable occupants
  • Assign risk ratings and proportionate control measures
  • Produce clear, prioritized significant findings and action plans with defined owners, target dates, and escalation triggers
  • Maintain the fire risk assessment programme and review cycle
  • Deliver a planned, risk-based programme of fire and life safety inspections and technical audits
  • Inspect means of escape, compartmentation, fire stopping, structural fire protection, signage, and emergency lighting
  • Verify statutory and contractual inspection, testing, and maintenance regimes
  • Record deficiencies with clear code and standard references, photographic evidence, risk ranking, and required corrective actions
  • Audit tenant, operator, contractor, and event fit-outs against client fire and life safety requirements
  • Monitor hot work, temporary works, fire watch, impairment, and construction fire safety permit regimes
  • Act as a tactical commander for fire, evacuation, and life safety incidents

Requirements

  • Experience in fire engineering and life safety systems
  • Ability to conduct fire risk assessments and develop risk management plans
  • Knowledge of international fire engineering practices and relevant standards
  • Experience in conducting fire and life safety inspections and audits
  • Ability to manage compliance with relevant standards and regulations
  • Strong technical judgment and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in incident command and tactical response
  • Ability to develop and implement fire strategies
  • Leadership and management experience

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
  • Proven experience in fire engineering and life safety systems
  • Knowledge of international fire engineering practices and relevant standards
  • Experience in conducting fire and life safety inspections and audits
  • Ability to manage compliance with relevant standards and regulations
  • Strong technical judgment and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in incident command and tactical response
  • Ability to develop and implement fire strategies
  • Leadership and management experience
