Role overview

Leadership and technical delivery

• Lead EIAs and ESIAs from screening and scoping through approvals, conditions management, and post-consent obligations.
• Own scope, schedule, budget, risks, quality, issue resolution, and change control.
• Mentor, coach, and quality-review junior and mid-level practitioners.
• Direct and author regulator-ready assessments covering baselines, alternatives, cumulative impacts, mitigation, and ESMPs.
• Coordinate air, noise, hydrology, biodiversity, social, and other discipline inputs into integrated assessments.
• Apply IFC Performance Standards and Equator Principles where applicable and align them with UAE/GCC requirements.

Regulatory and commercial work

• Engage UAE regulators and relevant authorities, manage consultations, and respond to formal feedback.
• Lead stakeholder engagement and document issues, responses, and commitments.
• Lead proposal development, including technical approaches, pricing, risk registers, execution plans, and differentiators.
• Build client relationships, identify cross-sell opportunities, and support repeat work and account growth.
• Support bid governance and compliance with internal quality, risk, and ethics standards.

Coordination, digital, and safety

• Integrate environmental deliverables with planning, architecture, engineering, and program management outputs.
• Champion practical mitigation aligned with design development, construction sequencing, and operational realities.
• Use GIS, data, and collaborative tools to streamline assessments and improve quality.
• Promote safety across office and field activities in line with AECOM standards and its Code of Conduct.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
• 8-12+ years of EIA/ESIA delivery experience in consultancy; UAE/GCC experience is strongly preferred.
• Track record leading EIAs for major urban development, transport, energy, water, or industrial projects.
• Experience engaging UAE regulators and navigating local permitting.
• Experience with IFI standards such as IFC Performance Standards is advantageous.
• Valid driving license and willingness to travel for site work as needed.

Specific skills

• EIA/ESIA leadership covering scoping, terms of reference, baselines, alternatives, impact assessment, mitigation, and ESMPs.
• Competence with UAE environmental approvals and applicable lender standards.
• Commercial skills in proposal leadership, pricing, risk management, governance, and negotiation.
• Superior report writing, QA/QC, and integration of multidisciplinary inputs.
• GIS competence with ArcGIS or QGIS and data management or visualization.
• Technical specialization in air quality, noise, hydrology, ecology, or social assessment is a bonus.
• Ability to translate sustainability objectives into practical project measures and performance tracking.
