About the role

Contribute to early-stage civil and structural design across rail, highways, energy and multidisciplinary infrastructure projects.

Design operational infrastructure including bridges, stations and heavy civils while coordinating with multiple engineering disciplines.

Support inspection, strengthening design and replacement design for operational infrastructure in coordination with Network Rail and TfL.

Key responsibilities

Lead client liaison and support business development.
Coordinate project delivery, resources and design documentation.
Develop engineering solutions and lead design philosophy.
Produce preliminary and detailed designs for temporary and permanent works.
Carry out design checking, technical reporting and subcontractor coordination.
Develop erection schemes and specialist engineering methodologies.
Support resource planning, technical delivery, project coordination, cost control, fee proposals and variations.
Conduct site inspections and provide technical support to site teams.
Ensure temporary works are designed, checked and constructed safely.
Mentor junior engineers and support team development.
Ensure compliance with quality, health and safety and company procedures.

What we are looking for

Degree in Structural Engineering or Civil and Structural Engineering with a strong interest in structural design.
Ideally chartered with ICE, IStructE or an internationally recognised equivalent, or very close to achieving chartership.
Flexibility and initiative to respond effectively to challenging situations.
Ability to take on responsibility appropriate to the candidate's level of capability.
Familiarity with Eurocodes, DMRB and Network Rail design and assessment standards.
Familiarity with Highways, Network Rail and TfL assurance processes is desirable.
Proficiency in 3D structural design software such as LUSAS, MIDAS, Strand7 or similar tools.
