We’re looking for a Senior Automation Engineer to join Origin Internet on a 6-month contract and help build and improve our automation capability.

In this role, you’ll own and support a Node-RED automation platform that helps streamline processes across the business.

You’ll design automation flows, connect systems through APIs, build simple dashboards and help set the standards for how automation is delivered.

You’ll work closely with stakeholders, vendors and other developers to make sure our automations are reliable, easy to use and built in a consistent way.

What you’ll do:

• Own and improve the Node-RED automation platform, including standards, governance and delivery practices
• Design, build and maintain automation flows across systems and business processes
• Lead API integrations, including authentication, data mapping and error handling
• Build simple dashboards and reusable templates to support technical and non-technical users
• Monitor critical automations, troubleshoot issues and support other developers or vendor partners

What you’ll bring:

• Experience in automation, RPA or workflow orchestration, ideally with platform ownership or administration
• Hands-on experience with Node-RED or a similar automation platform in a production environment
• Strong API integration experience, including secure connections and troubleshooting
• Good understanding of technologies such as JavaScript, JSON, HTML and Python
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to work with stakeholders, vendors and technical teams

Nice to have:

• Telecommunications experience
• Azure or AWS experience or qualifications
• Exposure to DevOps, CI/CD or containerisation
• Basic JQuery and CSS knowledge
• Experience mentoring or reviewing the work of other developers
