Senior Embedded Linux & Vision AI Engineer

Integrate, optimise and deploy computer vision models on edge hardware (TensorFlow Lite, ONNX Runtime), including quantisation and hardware acceleration (NPU/GPU/DSP)

Develop and tune the camera pipeline (V4L2, ISP configuration) for automotive imaging conditions

Define and track accuracy and performance metrics for vision features, and improve them release on release

Take camera and device products from prototype through field trials to production release

Support certification, type approval and manufacturing test for new devices

Work with hardware, cloud and platform teams to deliver complete end-to-end solutions

Implement secure boot, signed updates and device hardening in line with UN R155/R156 requirements

Establish automated testing and CI for firmware images and model updates

Ensure releases meet reliability, safety and regulatory expectations for automotive devices

Set standards and documented practices for embedded Linux and vision AI development

Mentor and develop other engineers in the team, sharing knowledge deliberately to remove single points of failure

Contribute to technical strategy and roadmaps with the Devices Team Lead, Architecture function and CPTO

Champion AI-assisted development tools and modern engineering practice

5+ years of embedded Linux development experience: kernel, drivers, BSP work and build systems (Yocto or Buildroot)

Strong C and C++ skills, with Python for tooling, testing and ML workflows

Proven experience deploying and optimising ML/computer vision models on edge hardware, including quantisation and hardware acceleration (e.g. TensorFlow Lite, ONNX Runtime)

Experience with computer vision frameworks and models (OpenCV, YOLO-class detectors)

Experience with camera subsystems and pipelines (V4L2, ISP tuning, MIPI-CSI)

Track record of taking embedded products from prototype to production and field deployment

Ability to define and work to measurable accuracy, performance and power targets

Clear communicator, able to explain complex technical trade-offs to technical and non-technical audiences

Automotive experience: CAN/vehicle protocols, ISO 26262, ASPICE, UN R155/R156

Engineering leadership or line management experience (relevant to the combined Team Lead option)

Cellular IoT (LTE-M, NB-IoT, 5G) and wireless connectivity experience

Hardware security and cryptographic implementations (secure boot, secure elements)

MLOps for edge devices: model versioning, telemetry-driven retraining, fleet rollout of models

Experience with driver monitoring, ADAS or other automotive vision applications

Technically credible senior engineer who leads by example and earns trust quickly
