Role Overview
hyre is seeking a Senior Embedded Linux / Firmware Engineer for a hands-on engineering role developing secure communications technology.
The work supports mission-critical government and defence applications and focuses on lower-level platform software, firmware, and embedded hardware integration.
What You’ll Do
- Develop and maintain Embedded Linux platform software, Linux kernel components, and device drivers.
- Develop and integrate BSPs for ARM-based embedded hardware.
- Work with kernel configuration, Device Tree, bootloaders, and system bring-up.
- Develop low-level firmware and integrate software directly with embedded hardware.
- Develop Go system software and platform tooling.
- Work with SPI, I²C, UART, and USB interfaces.
- Support board bring-up, hardware/software integration, debugging, and system validation.
- Work with ARM platforms, including NXP and Qualcomm technologies.
- Maintain Linux build environments, cross-compilation toolchains, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Develop unit and functional tests for low-level software and firmware.
- Collaborate with hardware, systems, and software engineering teams.
