As our Secondary Electrical Engineer , you will be responsible for the design, analysis, and delivery of secondary systems for high-voltage (HV) and extra-high-voltage (EHV) substations and transmission infrastructure projects.
Working across utility, renewable energy, and power network developments, you will provide engineering expertise to develop safe, reliable, and compliant protection, control, SCADA, communications, and auxiliary system solutions that support the successful delivery of projects up to 500kV.
• Lead the secondary engineering, design, and technical review of HV/EHV substations, transmission networks, and renewable energy grid connection projects.
• Lead detailed engineering for secondary systems, including transformers, GIS/AIS switchgear, CTs, VTs, power cables, SCADA, IEC 61850 communication systems, and control systems.
• Lead grid connection studies and Grid Code compliance assessments for solar farms, wind farms, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and industrial generation facilities.
• Perform and review protection related power system studies including Load Flow Analysis, Short Circuit Studies, Protection Coordination Studies, Arc Flash Studies, and Harmonic Analysis
• Provide technical leadership on secondary design during tender preparation, bid evaluation, vendor assessment, RFQ development, technical bid evaluation, and contract documentation.
• Mentor graduate and junior engineers to ensure technical excellence and professional development

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
• Proven experience in HV secondary design, with a focus on substation design (132kV+ preferred) and renewable energy.
• Strong substation and transmission project exposure
• General engineering understanding of CAD software such as MicroStation, AutoCAD or REVIT
• Solid understanding of international standards, grid compliance, and industry best practices, ensuring compliance with AS/NZS standards, IEC frameworks and NSP/TNSP requirements
• Experience in engineering consultancies.
• Chartered (or working towards) highly regarded
