Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Design concept, FEED, and detailed transmission and distribution systems up to 400kV for international utility projects.
- Design primary and secondary systems, including single-line diagrams, protection and control schematics, AC/DC systems, cable schedules, and interconnection schedules.
- Perform lighting, illumination, earthing, and lightning protection designs and calculations.
- Prepare equipment, switchyard, substation, trench, tray, lighting, earthing, and lightning protection layouts.
- Use ETAP or SKM to model electrical systems and perform load flow, short circuit, motor starting, relay setting, and arc flash studies.
- Perform electrical equipment sizing calculations for transformers, generators, cables, UPS systems, and capacitor banks.
- Prepare equipment specifications, technical data sheets, bid documentation, and bid evaluations.
- Review vendor drawings and HV/LV system schematics.
- Coordinate across disciplines and with the lead office while leading design delivery.
- Manage design tasks, cost, profitability, and development of junior staff.
- Temporary extended out-of-town assignments may be required.
Candidate Specification
- Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
- Relevant consultancy experience with transmission and distribution systems, indoor GIS, and outdoor switchyards up to 400kV AC.
- Experience with utility companies in the US, UK, Europe, or the Middle East is preferred.
- Experience with HV/LV electrical systems for Oil & Gas projects is advantageous.
- Proficiency with Dialux and ETAP; basic AutoCAD or 3D modeling knowledge such as Revit is required.
- Ability to work independently with a lead office as part of an integrated team.
- Very good written and oral communication skills.
