AECOM is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer for building systems projects in federal, commercial, healthcare, education, transportation and other markets.
The role supports complex projects from strategy and design through project realization, with a focus on sustainable buildings, decarbonization and electrification.
The position is based in Oakland or San Francisco, with a hybrid work schedule.
Job responsibilities
- Perform electrical engineering from conceptual design through construction administration and post-occupancy.
- Design building electrical systems and complete technical calculations and engineering assignments.
- Prepare reports, research systems and specify electrical equipment, components and materials.
- Stay current on codes and technologies for power, lighting, telecommunications and fire alarm systems.
- Conduct site visits for data collection and evaluation of electrical systems and equipment.
- Coordinate with clients and multiple disciplines as the electrical engineering point of contact.
- Support proposals and discipline plans and help deliver projects within budget and schedule.
- Manage multiple projects, mentor team members and review work for quality and training needs.
- Attend and present to owners, clients and architects as needed.
Minimum requirements
- BA/BS in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering or a similar field, plus six years of related experience or equivalent experience and education.
- Professional Engineer registration is required.
- Experience designing building electrical systems for a variety of projects or markets.
Preferred qualifications
- Ten or more years of experience designing building electrical systems.
- Knowledge of NEC, WSEC, UFC, ASHRAE and IECC electrical codes and standards.
- Federal project experience and familiarity with agency standards, procurement and compliance.
- Experience in sustainable design, LEED or WELL certification, renewable energy or microgrids.
- Experience with power system studies using SKM, ETAP or EasyPower.
- Lighting calculation experience using Visual, AGI32 or ElumTools.
- Strong Revit and CAD experience.
- Strong communication, teamwork, creative thinking and ability to manage multiple projects.
- Project-related travel may be required.
