Rocket Lab's Space Systems team develops spacecraft, payloads, and components for interplanetary, manufacturing, national security, and defense missions.
The robotics group develops robotic arms, motion control systems, and solar array drive assemblies for planetary exploration, satellite servicing, and national security missions.
Role Overview
The Senior Electrical Engineer I/II will be based at Rocket Lab Robotics in Pasadena, California.
The role develops and tests avionics hardware for robotics programs.
The position may be hired at either the Senior Electrical Engineer I or Senior Electrical Engineer II level.
Responsibilities
- Own hardware for robotics and motor control applications.
- Drive architecture decisions and work with FPGA and microcontroller systems.
- Develop PCBA requirements and perform design verification and system integration testing.
- Own EMI/EMC, TVAC, shock, vibration, and other environmental tests.
- Capture schematics and design PCB layouts using Altium Designer.
- Mentor support engineers and provide production manufacturing support.
- Support failure analysis and root-cause investigations for units in test, integration, or on-orbit operation.
