Role overview

CesiumAstro develops communication systems for satellites, UAVs, launch vehicles, and other space and airborne platforms.

The Senior Electrical Engineer will join the Digital/Mixed-Signal Electronics team and develop complex electronics for aerospace systems.

The Senior II level includes full-stack hardware ownership and technical leadership opportunities for small hardware engineering teams.

Job duties and responsibilities

  • Own electronics modules and small systems from concept and architecture through schematic, layout, test, and production.
  • Develop digital and mixed-signal hardware for SDRs, SBCs, and control and telemetry subsystems.
  • Lead small hardware engineering teams and write architecture and hardware requirements.
  • Perform schematic design, PCB layout, circuit analysis, signal integrity analysis, and power integrity analysis.
  • Develop bring-up and verification plans, perform testing, and release assemblies to production.
  • Mentor engineers, collaborate with software and mechanical teams, and present design reviews to customers and executives.

Job requirements and minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • At least 5 years of relevant board-level electronics design, analysis, and test experience.
  • Experience with rigorous electronics design, thorough analysis, and testing.
  • Experience owning complex board-level design, delivering hardware through production, debugging, root cause analysis, and design reviews.
  • Expertise in PCB layout, HDI stackup design, high-speed routing, and Altium or comparable electronics design tools.
  • Experience with signal integrity or power integrity simulation tools and extensive laboratory bring-up and verification.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
  • Applicants must meet applicable United States Government space technology export regulation requirements.

Preferred experience

  • Eight or more years of professional electronics design experience is preferred.
  • Experience leading small teams developing multi-module assemblies is preferred.
  • High-speed digital electronics, 10+ Gbps SerDes, and SDR experience are preferred.
  • Space or defense electronics experience and design for space radiation environments are preferred.
