Role Overview
Join AECOM's multidisciplinary Transmission and Distribution team as a Senior Electrical Design Engineer focused on distribution.
Deliver practical electrical design solutions across private, industrial, transmission and distribution, and renewables projects.
Work across the project lifecycle in design and construction environments.
Core Responsibilities
- Carry out medium- and low-voltage design work to DNO standards.
- Provide open-ring, closed-ring, and radial feeder supply network solutions.
- Design medium- and low-voltage intake and distribution substations and primary plant.
- Produce secondary protection and control solutions from scheme, circuit, and wiring diagrams.
- Perform cable sizing, routing, sectional, and termination drawings.
- Design and model earthing grids, including touch, step, and transfer potential calculations.
- Produce interfaces for SCADA, auxiliary supplies, and COP metering.
- Provide standby and backup power supply changeover solutions.
- Write technical specifications and support equipment selection and procurement.
- Liaise with suppliers and clients and support electrical system studies and network modelling.
- Demonstrate understanding of arc-flash and blast requirements and mitigation solutions.
- Review design submissions and participate in design reviews with the Team Lead Verifier.
