About the Role

- Lead economic modelling workstreams and develop innovative solutions to address clients' research questions
- Ensure robust and rigorous economic analysis in the delivery of consultancy projects
- Apply and assure quantitative analytical techniques as applied to large datasets
- Handle clients and potential clients effectively and develop Tourism Economics’ relationship with them
- Assist in the development of research proposals, project reports, and presentations
- Plan and structure projects, coordinating input from team members and ensuring quality assurance
- Work collaboratively with project teams and senior stakeholders, incorporating feedback effectively
- Be entrepreneurial and proactive in identification and pursuit of new business opportunities
- Line management of one or two team members (for the right candidate)
Requirements
- At least 5 years of client facing work and ability to develop commercial relationships with potential clients
- Substantial experience in economic analysis including IO modelling, cost benefit analysis, and econometrics
- Excellent analytical and Excel modelling skills
- Proactive and creative in using economics to answer clients' questions
- Very strong report writing skills, including ability to explain economic concepts to non specialists
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to rigorous, accurate work

Description
- Tourism Economics is a subsidiary of Oxford Economics dedicated to analytically based consulting to the tourism sector.
- We are looking to hire a Senior Economist to join the consulting team at Tourism Economics.
- Our team provides analytical services including quantifying economic impact, developing tourism satellite accounts, performing cost benefit analyses, examining ROI, and constructing tailored forecasts.
- This role will be based within the EMEA consulting team.
- Consulting projects usually run for between one and three months, culminating in a report or presentation to a client.
- Senior Economists collaborate closely with Lead Economists and Associate Directors on all aspects of client engagements.
Key Responsibilities

- For the right candidate, line management of one or two team members
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- At least 5 years experience of client facing work and the ability to develop commercial relationships with potential clients
- Substantial experience of economic analysis, including familiarity with analytical techniques such as IO modelling, cost benefit analysis and econometrics
- Excellent analytical and Excel modelling skills
- Evidence of being proactive and creative in using economics to answer clients’ questions
- Very strong report writing skills, including the ability to explain economic concepts and quantitative results to non specialists
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to going the extra mile to produce rigorous, accurate work
Desirable
- Experience in delivering consulting projects within the tourism sector
- A post graduate degree in economics
- Experience with quantitative analysis software such as Python, R, Stata
- Experience in proposal writing
- Experience with delivering consulting projects focused on the GCC region
- Experience of client facing work and the ability to develop commercial relationships with potential clients
