Role Overview
Operate material-handling equipment to transport, load, and unload steel products within production and distribution areas.
Support the safe and efficient movement of raw materials, finished goods, and scrap.
Responsibilities
- Operate forklifts, cranes, conveyors, and other material-handling equipment.
- Load and unload steel materials from trucks, conveyors, and storage areas.
- Maintain material movement, stock-level, and distribution records.
- Follow PPE, load-capacity, equipment-check, and other workplace safety requirements.
- Inspect materials for damage and report defects or irregularities.
- Perform pre-operational checks and routine maintenance on handling equipment.
- Coordinate with production, warehouse, and shipping teams.
- Improve material movement efficiency and reduce handling time.
- Respond to equipment malfunctions, load spills, and other emergencies.
- Follow environmental requirements for material handling and waste disposal.
Job Knowledge and Skills
- Experience operating forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material-handling machinery.
- Understanding of steel product handling, storage, and distribution requirements.
- Knowledge of safety standards, load balancing, and hazardous material handling.
