Senior Distribution Equipment Operator

Job Summary

Responsibilities

• Operate forklifts, cranes, conveyors, and other material-handling equipment to move steel products.
• Load and unload steel materials from trucks, conveyors, and storage areas according to standard operating procedures.
• Maintain records of material movement, stock levels, and distribution logs.
• Follow safety regulations, including PPE use, load limits, and equipment maintenance checks.
• Inspect materials for damage and report defects or irregularities.
• Conduct pre-operational checks and routine maintenance on handling equipment.
• Coordinate with production, warehouse, and shipping teams to maintain smooth material flow.
• Improve material-movement efficiency and reduce handling time where possible.
• Respond to equipment malfunctions, load spills, and other emergencies.
• Follow environmental requirements for material handling and waste disposal.

Job Knowledge and Skills

• Experience operating forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material-handling machinery.
• Understanding of steel product handling, storage, and distribution requirements.
• Knowledge of workplace safety standards, load balancing, and hazardous material handling.
• Ability to track material movement and assist with inventory control procedures.
• ERP knowledge, preferably SAP, is required for success in the role.
• Relevant competencies include equipment maintenance, heavy equipment standards, heavy lifting, risk assessment, and quality and safety.

Experience and Education

• At least 3 years of working experience, including 2 years of relevant experience.
• One year of GCC experience is a plus.
• High school diploma in a related field.
• A related technical certificate or heavy equipment license.
