Job Summary
Operate material-handling equipment to transport, load, and unload steel products within the production facility and distribution areas.
Ensure safe and efficient movement of raw materials, finished goods, and scrap while following operational and safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Operate forklifts, cranes, conveyors, and other material-handling equipment to move steel products.
- Load and unload steel materials from trucks, conveyors, and storage areas according to standard operating procedures.
- Maintain records of material movement, stock levels, and distribution logs.
- Follow safety regulations, including PPE use, load limits, and equipment maintenance checks.
- Inspect materials for damage and report defects or irregularities.
- Conduct pre-operational checks and routine maintenance on handling equipment.
- Coordinate with production, warehouse, and shipping teams to maintain smooth material flow.
- Improve material-movement efficiency and reduce handling time where possible.
- Respond to equipment malfunctions, load spills, and other emergencies.
- Follow environmental requirements for material handling and waste disposal.
Job Knowledge and Skills
- Experience operating forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material-handling machinery.
