Organization Overview

  • The Office of Innovation & Technology (OIT) is the central IT agency for the City of Philadelphia.
  • OIT oversees all major information and communications technology initiatives for the City.

Job Description

  • The Senior Director of Infrastructure reports to the Chief Technology Officer.
  • Responsible for leading enterprise and solution architecture functions.
  • Manages a team of enterprise and solution architects.

Principal Responsibilities Architecture

  • Establish and enforce architectural principles, standards, and governance.
  • Take a holistic view of the organization.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive enterprise architecture models.
  • Develop and maintain technology roadmaps.
  • Evaluate and recommend technologies and oversee integration.
  • Consider reliability, scalability, flexibility, and security in architecture decisions.

Principal Responsibilities Infrastructure

  • Oversee daily activities of Enterprise & Solution Architects and related staff.
  • Provide direction and supervision to a cloud support team.
  • Direct day to day operations for areas within purview.
  • Evaluate new technologies and tools.
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks.
  • Collaborate with IT Security & Governance.

Principal Responsibilities Platform Engineering

  • Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources.
  • Train, coach, and mentor employees.
  • Participate in or lead hiring processes.
  • Collaborate with leaders from various departments.
  • Provide guidance to product, solution architects, and development teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in software development, architecture, and design.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Proficiency in architecture modeling tools and languages.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant technologies, frameworks, and design patterns.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to adapt to evolving technologies and business needs.
  • Strong knowledge of Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Planning best practices.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft product stack.

Additional Suggested Skillsets

  • Security and HIPAA compliance in networked solutions.
  • Experience with monitoring and alerting software tools (SolarWinds, What's Up Gold, PagerDuty).
  • Understanding of AWS/Azure Virtual and Cloud environments.
  • Data Center design, maintenance and support.
  • Knowledge of common Hypervisor technologies (VMware, Azure Local, Nutanix).

Salary Range

  • $140,000 $158,000 per year.
  • Salary cannot exceed $158,000.

Work Setting

  • In person (onsite).
