Senior DevOps Engineer

Position Summary

Core Responsibilities

• Design and maintain GitLab CI/CD pipelines for data engineering and Databricks assets.
• Build and improve Terraform modules for AWS and Databricks infrastructure.
• Standardize Databricks Asset Bundles for multi-environment deployments.
• Support AWS components including S3, IAM, KMS, VPC, PrivateLink, and cross-account access.
• Support release governance, tagging, deployment validation, rollback planning, and production readiness.
• Improve monitoring and alerting for Databricks jobs, workflows, cloud services, SLAs, and platform health.
• Automate least-privilege access, encryption, secrets management, permissions, and audit logging.
• Improve incident triage, root cause analysis, operational handoffs, runbooks, and production support.
• Define standards for merge requests, approvals, testing, release validation, and reusable deployment patterns.
• Contribute to AWS migration and Enterprise Data Platform modernization.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Data Engineering, or a related field.
• 6+ years of DevOps, platform engineering, cloud engineering, or data platform engineering experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with GitLab CI/CD and Terraform.
• Experience with AWS infrastructure, Databricks platform engineering, and Databricks Asset Bundles.
• Understanding of Databricks workflows, jobs, clusters, notebooks, SQL warehouses, permissions, and workspace configuration.
• Understanding of Unity Catalog, data access controls, external locations, storage credentials, and governance.
• Strong scripting experience using Python, Bash, or similar languages.
• Understanding of SQL, Spark, Delta Lake, and modern data platform concepts.
• Experience with production monitoring, alerting, logging, incident management, runbooks, and troubleshooting.
• Experience working in Agile delivery models with globally distributed engineering teams.

Technology Skills

• AWS technologies include S3, IAM, KMS, STS, VPC, PrivateLink, and VPC endpoints.
• DevOps technologies include GitLab CI/CD, merge requests, protected branches, approvals, and release tagging.
• Databricks technologies include Asset Bundles, workflows, jobs, notebooks, SQL warehouses, Delta Lake, Spark, and Unity Catalog.
• Operational technologies include system tables, cloud logs, dashboards, alerts, SLA tracking, and runbooks.

Preferred Experience

• Experience with AWS multi-account patterns, cross-account IAM, S3 data lakes, KMS encryption, and lifecycle policies is preferred.
• Experience with AWS PrivateLink, endpoints, DNS, enterprise routing, and Databricks on AWS is preferred.
• Experience with Unity Catalog, Delta Sharing, external locations, storage credentials, and permission automation is preferred.
• Experience with GitLab workflow controls, Terraform module design, state management, and reusable IaC patterns is preferred.
• Experience with Power BI connectivity, MLOps, or Azure-to-AWS migration programs is preferred.
