Role Overview
Senior NPD Engineer responsible for engineering design and new product development from concept through mass production.
The role focuses on precise, high-quality, and cost-effective mechanical designs with expert-level sheet metal specialization.
Education and Experience
- B.E. or B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university is required.
- At least 8 years of core experience in engineering design and new product development is required.
Sheet Metal Expertise
- Advanced knowledge of stamping, bending, punching, laser cutting, welding, and progressive die or tooling feasibility is required.
- Strong DFM and DFA knowledge is required to reduce material scrap and manufacturing costs.
- Required materials knowledge includes CRCA, stainless steel, and aluminum.
- Required surface finish knowledge includes powder coating, plating, and anodizing.
Software and Technical Knowledge
- Expertise in SolidWorks, Creo, or CATIA 3D CAD software with sheet metal modules is required.
- Deep GD&T knowledge applied to sheet metal fabrication is required.
- The role requires familiarity with ISO and ASME standards.
- Understanding of plastics or injection molding, casting, or machining is advantageous.
Key Responsibilities
- Design sheet metal components, enclosures, structures, and assemblies from scratch.
- Execute concept development, 3D modeling, 2D manufacturing drawings, prototyping, testing, and mass production activities.
- Perform mechanical calculations, tolerance stack-up analysis, and structural evaluations for assembly fitment.
- Coordinate with tool rooms, fabrication vendors, and assembly teams to resolve site engineering issues.
- Maintain BOMs, engineering change notes, DFMEA, and related documentation.
Compensation
- Pay is ₹45,000 to ₹50,000 per month.
