Senior Design & New Product Development (NPD) Engineer (Sheet Metal Expert)

Job Overview

Education and Experience

• B.E. or B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university.
• A minimum of 8 years of core experience in engineering design and new product development is required.

Mandatory Sheet Metal Expertise

• Advanced knowledge of stamping, bending, punching, laser cutting, welding and progressive die or tooling feasibility.
• Strong mastery of DFM and DFA rules for sheet metal.
• Knowledge of CRCA, stainless steel and aluminum materials and of powder coating, plating and anodizing finishes.

Software and Technical Knowledge

• Expertise in a 3D CAD system such as SolidWorks, Creo or CATIA, including sheet metal modules.
• Deep knowledge and application of GD&T for sheet metal fabrication.
• Basic to good understanding of plastics or injection molding, casting or machining.
• Thorough familiarity with international engineering standards such as ISO and ASME.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop sheet metal components, enclosures, structures and assemblies from scratch.
• Execute end-to-end NPD activities, including conceptualization, 3D modeling, detailed 2D manufacturing drawings, prototyping and testing.
• Perform mechanical calculations, tolerance stack-up analysis and structural evaluations for assembly fitment.
• Coordinate with tool rooms, fabrication vendors and assembly teams to resolve on-site engineering issues.
• Create and maintain BOM, engineering change note and DFMEA documentation.

Pay

• Monthly pay is ₹45,000–₹50,000.
