Key responsibilities:
Design, automate, and monitor highly available and scalable database solutions
Optimize database performance, tuning queries, indexes, and schemas for SQL Server, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, and Azure SQL DB
Partner with Application Development teams to guide best practices for database architecture and performance
Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions for database automation and configuration management
Enhance monitoring, alerting, and observability to facilitate proactive issue resolution
Improve database security, backups, and disaster recovery strategies
Support CI/CD processes for database changes to ensure reliability and compliance
Troubleshoot incidents, perform root cause analysis, and drive improvements in database resilience
Stay updated with emerging technologies and recommend enhancements
On-call, but also working on ways to avoid on-call
Qualifications & experience:
5+ years of experience in database administration, reliability engineering, or database engineering
Deep expertise in SQL Server, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, and Azure SQL DB
Experience working in high-transaction, large-scale application environments
Strong proficiency in automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell, or Kubernetes
Knowledge of scripting languages (Python, Bash, PowerShell) for automation
Experience implementing database monitoring, logging, and observability solutions
