Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Senior Data Engineer role based in Abu Dhabi.
The Senior Data Engineer will design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and infrastructure to support advanced analytics and data-driven decision-making.
Responsibilities include developing and optimizing ETL processes, implementing robust data models, and managing data warehousing solutions.
The person in this role will collaborate closely with data scientists, analysts, and software engineers to ensure data quality, reliability, and availability.
Additional tasks include monitoring data systems, troubleshooting performance issues, documenting solutions, and contributing to architectural and technology stack decisions.
Qualifications
- Strong data engineering skills, including experience with modern data platforms, distributed processing frameworks, and pipeline orchestration tools.
- Proficiency in data modeling and data warehousing, with hands-on experience designing scalable schemas and optimizing storage and query performance.
- Expertise in Extract Transform Load (ETL) processes, including building, scheduling, and maintaining robust, fault-tolerant data pipelines.
- Experience with data analytics concepts, working with stakeholders to translate business needs into data solutions and enabling self-service analytics.
- Advanced SQL skills and proficiency in at least one programming language commonly used in data engineering (e.g., Python, Scala, or Java).
- Familiarity with cloud data ecosystems (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP) and related services for storage, compute, and data processing.
- Strong understanding of data governance, security, quality, and best practices for metadata and documentation.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams, communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and mentor less experienced team members.
