Imagine getting to use the latest technology in AWS and doing that across a wide range of business applications and digital services, serving some of the most vulnerable people in society. You’ll be joining an organisation where we share a building with the residents we’re serving as we look to follow industry best practices such as infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD.
Following a serious cyber attack in October 2020, all of Hackney Council’s applications are now managed in the cloud and our primary cloud provider is AWS. Following the immediate response to the attack, we’re developing our in-house cloud skills and expertise. You’ll be joining an established team which has drawn together developers, infrastructure engineers and apprentices under the leadership of experts from the award-winning provider Digi2al to help us transition to a permanent function.
We’re looking for cloud practitioners with a clear commitment to meeting user needs, confident at working to Agile principles and with a strong understanding of how to leverage cloud to achieve impact. You’ll want to work to the principles of our HackIT manifesto, helping form the team culture and ways of working. You’ll be supporting the development of our people whilst delivering secure, reusable and self-service solutions for developers and analysts.

Hackney is one of the UK’s highest performing local authorities, serving one of London’s best places to live and work. We have achieved a huge amount: our services, our schools, our public spaces are all amongst the very best. We have changed the reputation, not just of the Council, but of Hackney itself. Bringing jobs and investment into the borough, securing the legacy from the 2012 Games, and making this a place of which we can all be proud.
