Department And Unit Summary

Join our team in a 12-bed OR unit, located on the 1st floor, where you will provide compassionate care to patients alongside a dedicated team of RNs, CSTs and FAs.

You will play a crucial role in assisting our patients in general surgery, bariatrics surgery, orthopedic and urological procedures.

This position offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment focused on delivering high-quality patient care.

How you'll contribute:

A SeniorCentral Sterile Tech who excels in this role:

  • Determines, coordinates and supervises daily staffing assignments and levels.
  • Provides direction, orientation, training, coaching, and mentoring to staff.
  • Performs or assists with performance evaluations and disciplinary actions.
  • Assesses and ensures quality of services delivered and facilitates staff development programs.
  • Ensures staff compliance with departmental and organizational policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Performs staff responsibilities as needed to fulfill required service levels.
  • Leads the handling and resolution of complex issues and complaints.
  • Provides inspection, decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of instruments and other patient care equipment in accordance with processing guidelines, AAMI, AORN, TJC, and OSHA requirements.
  • Operates departmental equipment daily according to manufacturer instructions with emphasis on safety.
  • Processes and documents all sterile supplies and equipment daily using chemical, biological and mechanical indicators to verify sterility in accordance with manufacturer instructions and hospital policy.
  • Monitors and performs antimicrobial and disinfection solutions testing according to manufacturer instructions and documentation daily.
  • Preforms needed clerical tasks, including copying, filing, and ordering/stocking supplies for the entire department.
  • Assist the OR Coordinator with staff education/ organizing in-services as needed.
  • Helps to identify and implement process improvement initiatives.
  • Provides monitoring and evaluation of vendors coming in and out of the department. Also appropriately delegates and communicates necessary information for pending cases.
  • Takes call as determined by the department director.
  • Serves as a resource to the department for quality/auditing purposes.

Shift: 11a-7p or 12p-8p mid shift.

On call required rotation.

Previous leadership experience

Five years of relevant experience
