Role overview

GHD is seeking an experienced Senior Bridge Engineer for its Canadian Operations in Vancouver, Calgary, or Edmonton.

The role focuses on transportation-related structural work involving roads, highways, rail, transit, and ports.

The position supports projects through policy and business case advice, concept and detailed design, inspection, and construction administration.

Work model

  • The role follows a hybrid work model with in-office collaboration three days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Support team growth through recruitment, client engagement, and strategic business initiatives.
  • Lead proposal development and contribute to go/no-go decisions for targeted Western Canada opportunities.
  • Serve as Project Manager or Design Manager on transportation infrastructure projects.
  • Provide design management, technical leadership, and project delivery support from planning through construction.
  • Oversee structural analysis and preparation of engineering drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
  • Provide QA/QC oversight, manage deliverables, and coordinate multiple priorities.
  • Supervise, train, mentor, and develop team members.

What you’ll bring

  • 10+ years of transportation-related structural design experience, including bridges, culverts, or retaining walls.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Structural Engineering.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in Alberta or British Columbia.
  • Project management experience and strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Leadership experience in personnel management, change management, employee development, performance management, and team building.
  • Knowledge of structural analysis software and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience managing multiple tasks while maintaining schedules and attention to detail.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • AREMA, CN Rail, CPKC Rail, or other Class 1 experience is considered an asset.
  • A self-starting, entrepreneurial approach and commitment to building a Western Canada practice.

Compensation

  • Salary range: $112,448 to $187,413, with the range based on the preferred work location.
  • The salary range may change if the selected candidate’s location differs.
