- Lead the design of scalable, event driven backend services, making pragmatic decisions on when to build new versus refactor old
- Strategically dismantle a monolithic legacy application, migrating logic into modern, independent microservices
- Lead the structured migration of legacy backend systems to modern frameworks, ensuring production stability
- Architect backend pipelines that integrate with LLMs to power advanced search, automation, and generative features
- Build robust APIs and services that support the product roadmap, ensuring they are AI ready
- Analyze and optimize complex MySQL data models and queries for speed; implement advanced caching strategies using Redis
- Proactively identify and diagnose performance issues using observability tools like New Relic and Kibana
- Ensure infrastructure on AWS (EC2/ECS) is tuned to handle high traffic and growth spikes
- Ensure software reliability by enforcing strict testing and review standards
- Support team growth by mentoring mid level engineers and leading technical discussions
Requirements
- 8+ years in backend engineering
- Expert in PHP (Laravel, Symfony, Yii) with working knowledge of Node.js
- Advanced skills in MySQL and Redis
- Solid experience with AWS (EC2, ECS, RDS)
- Familiarity with queues like RabbitMQ or ActiveMQ
- Experience with Algolia or similar search engines
- Strong focus on product ownership and business impact
- Hands on experience with message brokers and event driven architecture
- Product mindset: understand that code is a tool to solve business problems
- Ownership: take full accountability for features from design to production monitoring
