Responsibilities

  • Operate and optimize Amazon ECS deployments for JLV backend microservices. • Configure and manage service scaling, task definitions, health checks, and blue/green deployment strategies. • Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code solutions aligned with VA Enterprise Cloud (VAEC) architecture standards. • Support multi-region high availability and disaster recovery environments within AWS GovCloud. • Design, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines for containerized microservices. • Automate build, test, security scanning, deployment, verification, and rollback processes. • Create repeatable deployment procedures and release workflows supporting VA governance requirements. • Automate system configuration, database updates, performance tuning, and post-deployment validation. • Build and maintain monitoring, logging, alerting, and notification systems for JLV backend services. • Execute backup, restore, outage recovery, and incident response procedures. • Develop operational runbooks and support production readiness activities. • Establish performance baselines and support load testing and release validation. • Implement security controls supporting FedRAMP High, NIST 800-53, FISMA, and VA compliance frameworks. • Integrate security practices into CI/CD pipelines and operational workflows. • Support continuous monitoring, audit activities, and remediation efforts. • Implement IAM solutions following government cloud best practices. • Partner with backend engineers, product teams, security teams, and operations personnel. • Support production issue triage and service reliability improvements. • Guide releases through VA governance and approval processes. • Maintain architecture documentation, deployment guides, and operational procedures. • Take on additional tasks and responsibilities as needed to support team objectives and ensure the success of the project.

Requirements

  • Experience operating containerized microservices on AWS ECS. • Strong understanding of container orchestration, service scaling, load balancing, and health monitoring. • Proficiency with AWS CLI and production cloud operations. • Experience designing and supporting CI/CD pipelines for enterprise environments. • Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code practices and automation frameworks. • Working knowledge of FedRAMP High, NIST 800-53, FISMA, and government cloud compliance requirements. • Experience implementing observability solutions, incident response processes, and SRE practices. • Strong understanding of AWS networking, IAM, security groups, and multi-region disaster recovery architectures.

Additional Qualifications

  • Experience working in AWS GovCloud environments. • Familiarity with VA Enterprise Cloud architecture and deployment patterns. • Experience supporting healthcare applications or clinical viewer platforms. • Familiarity with deployment governance, operational readiness reviews, and production operations management. • Experience integrating with VA or DoD healthcare systems and services. • Knowledge of VIP lifecycle processes and associated release documentation.

Security Clearance Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required. • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance or higher.
