Cyurae is seeking a Senior Backend Developer with 5+ years of hands-on experience designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining production-grade applications.
The role owns the backend lifecycle from architecture and development through deployment, monitoring, and production support.
The successful candidate will independently build scalable backend systems, integrate AI services, and guide junior developers.
Work Mode and Employment
- The role is full-time and permanent.
- The role is on-site and requires working full-time from the Gurugram office.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable Python and FastAPI backend systems.
- Build secure, reliable, documented REST APIs and asynchronous services.
- Own backend architecture, database design, API contracts, and integrations.
- Integrate AI models, LLM APIs, recommendation services, embeddings, and third-party AI platforms.
- Use PostgreSQL, Redis, and vector databases for transactional, caching, and AI-search requirements.
- Design background-processing systems with queues, workers, and event-driven workflows.
- Optimize systems for performance, scalability, security, and cost.
- Containerize applications with Docker and support AWS deployment.
- Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines with DevOps.
- Manage configurations, secrets, logging, monitoring, alerts, and production support.
- Implement authentication, authorization, role-based access, and API security controls.
- Write tested code, participate in reviews and planning, mentor developers, and collaborate with product and engineering teams.
Required Qualifications
- At least 5 years of professional backend development experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with Python and advanced production API development using FastAPI.
- Strong understanding of asynchronous programming, concurrency, and background processing.
- Experience designing complete backend systems for web or mobile applications.
- Strong knowledge of REST APIs, versioning, validation, authentication, and documentation.
- Experience with PostgreSQL schema design, indexing, query optimization, and Redis.
- Experience integrating AI services, LLM APIs, machine-learning models, or AI-based features.
- Understanding of embeddings, vector search, structured AI responses, and model API integration.
- Hands-on Docker experience and deployment experience on AWS or an equivalent cloud platform.
- Working knowledge of CI/CD, Git, GitLab or GitHub workflows, monitoring, logging, and production support.
- Understanding of backend security, data protection, and secure API development.
- Ability to take a backend product independently from planning to production and work from the Gurugram office.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with AWS services including ECS, EKS, Lambda, S3, RDS, ElastiCache, SQS, API Gateway, or CloudWatch.
- Experience with Celery, RabbitMQ, Kafka, SQS, or similar queue and messaging technologies.
- Knowledge of WebSockets, real-time applications, vector databases, RAG pipelines, or prompt orchestration.
- Experience with OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, Amazon Bedrock, Hugging Face, or open-source AI models.
- Experience with microservices, modular monoliths, event-driven architecture, Kubernetes, or Terraform.
- Experience in an early-stage startup, building products from zero to one, mentoring developers, or leading backend decisions.
What Success Looks Like
Strengthen the existing backend architecture and build stable, scalable production APIs within the first three to six months.
Establish clean development, testing, deployment, observability, and reliability practices.
Integrate AI services securely and efficiently, create reusable modules, and maintain clear API documentation.
Support AWS deployment and monitoring while mentoring developers and improving engineering standards.
