The Senior Cost Accounting Analyst is responsible for the maintenance, enhancement, and effective use of the organization's cost accounting and decision support systems. This role serves as the subject matter expert for cost accounting methodologies, data integrity, and reporting, ensuring accurate and actionable financial information for decision-making. Responsibilities:
Develop and optimize cost accounting methodologies and allocation models for hospital and physician services.
Utilize HFMA's Seven Levels of Costing to ensure standardized, best-practice cost accounting.
Validate the accuracy and effectiveness of cost models, allocation methodologies, and reporting outputs.
Identify opportunities for innovation, automation, and continuous improvement within cost accounting processes and systems.
Develop a thorough understanding of data flows and dependencies across upstream and downstream systems and evaluate their impact on cost accounting results.
Extract, analyze, and interpret data from various source systems to support operational and financial decision-making.
Translate complex financial and operational data into meaningful, actionable information for users and leadership.
Prepare ad hoc analyses, reports, dashboards, and presentations for management and senior leadership.
Lead meetings, project discussions, and cross-functional initiatives related to cost accounting and decision support.
Proactively manage project timelines, priorities, and deliverables to ensure successful outcomes.
Audit data and reconcile discrepancies to ensure accurate and reliable reporting.
Maintain professional knowledge through continuing education, professional organizations, conferences, and industry networking opportunities.
Support system upgrades, testing, implementation of new functionality, and process improvements.
Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
