Role Overview

The Technology and Infrastructure AI Lab prototypes, experiments with, and deploys AI solutions for media production systems.

The team integrates advanced AI technologies into CBC/Radio-Canada's existing product ecosystem.

The role supports applied AI work in an experimental environment backed by senior experts.

Work Arrangement

  • This is a hybrid position combining in-office and remote work.
  • Work arrangements will be discussed with hiring managers according to departmental guidelines.
  • The primary location is the Broadcast Centre in Toronto, Ontario.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the full life cycle of AI-driven applications and features, including prototyping, development, and deployment.
  • Focus on AI applications using cloud architectures.
  • Fine-tune, evaluate, and integrate large language models into core business processes.
  • Maintain testing, monitoring, feedback, and performance assessment protocols for AI systems.
  • Connect intelligent agents to internal or external services and APIs using MCP or equivalent frameworks.
  • Collaborate with product, architecture, and data science teams to embed AI in digital platforms.
  • Conduct proofs of concept connecting AI with legacy systems and supporting viable new products.
  • Use AI copilots while maintaining test coverage, code quality, and IT security standards.

Minimum Requirements

  • University degree in software engineering, computer science, data science, or a related field.
  • One to two years of hands-on technical software design experience from internships, academic projects, personal initiatives, or early professional work.
  • Strong proficiency in Python, TypeScript, or Java.
  • Strong understanding of quality control, debugging, testing methodologies, and information security.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Projects involving machine learning, LLMs, RAG architectures, or autonomous agent development.
  • Interest in media, audiovisual production, entertainment, or creative technologies.
  • Familiarity with cloud ecosystems and modern AI libraries or frameworks such as PyTorch, CrewAI, or LangGraph.
  • Practical experience with AI-assisted coding tools such as Claude and Cursor.
  • Open-source involvement or a portfolio of exploratory AI projects.
