Role overview

Export Development Canada is seeking a Senior Advisor, Enterprise Portfolio Management.

The role strengthens governance, portfolio oversight, and executive decision-making across the transformation portfolio.

The Enterprise Portfolio Management team supports strategic initiative delivery, portfolio balance, risk visibility, and standardized governance.

Team mandate

  • Govern strategic initiatives, balance the portfolio, and visualize risks against enterprise strategy.
  • Ensure initiatives follow the Initiative Lifecycle Framework and approved delivery standards.
  • Maintain Planview as the system of record and review data quality for financial management and portfolio performance.
  • Create centralized reports showing progress against strategic objectives and enterprise scorecards.

What you will do

  • Provide governance oversight across lifecycle gates, checkpoints, controls, and compliance requirements.
  • Apply independent second-line challenge and support coordination with internal audit.
  • Improve governance frameworks, portfolio processes, lifecycle processes, change requests, and financial governance.
  • Optimize Planview and portfolio tooling for reporting, data quality, and decision support.
  • Support program reviews, business cases, change governance, strategic planning, and portfolio modeling.
  • Prepare leadership for governance readiness and IOC and EELG planning cycles.
  • Lead executive- and board-level transformation portfolio reporting.

Required qualifications

  • Have an undergraduate degree in business administration, project management, or a related field.
  • Have at least 7 years of experience in enterprise portfolio management, governance, or advisory roles.
  • Be able to work across complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
  • Understand portfolio and project management frameworks including PMBOK, Lean Portfolio Management, and Agile.
  • Have experience with governance frameworks, lifecycle processes, and compliance oversight.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with Planview or similar portfolio management tools is preferred.
  • Exposure to financial governance, audit, or large-scale transformation programs is preferred.
  • PMP, Agile, or Lean Portfolio Management certification is preferred.
  • Bilingual English and French capability is preferred.

Compensation

  • The salary typically ranges from CAD 96,557 to CAD 128,743 annually, based on qualifications and experience.

Work arrangement

  • The role follows a hybrid work model and can be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa.
  • Employees currently work from the office two days per week, increasing to three days per week beginning in September 2026 through a phased approach.

  • Employment type: contract or temporary assignment for 12 months.
