Job Summary

The employer is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant for the Finance and Accounts department.

The role reports to the Finance Manager or Chief Accountant and is based in Qatar.

The position is full-time and focuses on accurate accounting records, reporting, reconciliations, payroll accounting, and closing activities.

Accounting Responsibilities

  • Manage daily accounting transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, the general ledger, and journal entries.
  • Prepare and review monthly financial statements, management reports, and account schedules.
  • Perform bank, supplier, customer, and general ledger reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
  • Manage month-end and year-end closing, including proper recording of transactions and accruals.
  • Review invoices, payments, receipts, and supporting documents for accuracy and authorization.
  • Monitor receivables and payables, including outstanding balances and payment schedules.
  • Prepare and maintain accruals, prepayments, provisions, and fixed asset schedules.
  • Assist with payroll accounting, including salaries, leave salary, end-of-service settlements, and related entries.
  • Ensure proper accounting treatment and reconciliation of employee-related and project or site expenses.

Finance Support Responsibilities

  • Support cash flow forecasting and budget monitoring.
  • Coordinate with internal departments to obtain financial information and supporting documents.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by providing schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documents.
  • Maintain accurate accounting records in accordance with company policies and applicable accounting standards.
  • Monitor documentation for financial transactions and identify discrepancies.
  • Recommend corrective actions and support the Finance Manager or Chief Accountant with financial analysis and other accounting matters.
  • Perform other duties assigned by management.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Five to seven years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of general accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Experience with month-end closing, reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, payroll accounting, and financial reporting.
  • Good knowledge of Excel, including formulas, Pivot Tables, and financial data analysis.
  • Experience with ERP or accounting systems.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical ability, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines.
  • Good communication and coordination skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in construction, contracting, engineering, or project-based companies is preferred.
  • Professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CMA, or equivalent is advantageous.
  • Experience working in Qatar or the GCC is preferred.
  • Experience handling multi-project or site-based accounting is advantageous.

Compensation

  • Pay is stated as QAR 1 to QAR 2 per month.

Workplace

  • Work location is in person in Qatar.
