The Primary SENDCo will join the Middle Leadership Team and work with the Head of Inclusion to lead and develop SEND provision across the Primary School.
The role promotes inclusive practice, learning, wellbeing, personal development, belonging, and achievement for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities.
Key responsibilities
- Safeguard students and promote their welfare while following school policies, procedures, and behaviour expectations.
- Develop and oversee the Inclusion Improvement Plan, inclusion policy, and curriculum.
- Liaise with parents and external agencies to support effective home-school partnerships and pupil provision.
- Attend leadership meetings, provide strategic input, and collaborate across school phases to support continuity and transitions.
- Assess pupils with SEND through observations and meetings, monitor progress, and inform provision.
- Develop, implement, and monitor individual support and learning plans.
- Provide advice, guidance, training, and professional development for teachers and support staff.
- Coordinate interventions, support-staff deployment, timetables, pupil records, admissions, transitions, and targeted support.
- Monitor BML student progress and wellbeing and ensure appropriate interventions are in place.
Required candidate profile
- Native-level English language skills.
- NASENCO or equivalent qualification.
- The National Award for SEN Coordination and other additional qualifications are desired.
- At least 2 years of SEN or inclusion-focused experience in the UK or a reputable British school.
- A track record of outstanding teaching and learning and a caring, nurturing classroom environment.
